Uganda - Mountains of the Moon 60% Oat M!lk

£5.65

I chose to pair these super fruity beans from Uganda with oats for this vegan dark m!lk bar as the bright cherries and apricots sing out through the added oats so that you can still clearly taste the base flavours in the cacao.

Smooth, deep, slightly grainy with pillows of oaty loveliness! What a real treat! Came for the ethics, hanging around for the creamy, fruity mouthfeel. And when that wears off, I might have to taste some more...

About the beans

On the slopes of the Rwenzori mountain range, smallholder farmers grow a rare and flavoursome cacao. Its name is derived from ancient times when the mountain range was called Mountains of the Moon because of its snow-capped whiteness. The mountains of Rwenzori have unique microclimates, a rich biodiversity, and are known for abundant rainfall. Farmers grow their cacao intercropped with plantains, coffee, vanilla and other crops in a sustainable agroforestry system, like their ancestors have done before them.

Producer: Mountains of the Moon ™ is a social enterprise that supports farmers to develop organic farming, diversify and improve the quality of their crops, apply for international certification and thus increase and strengthen the family's income while protecting the natural environment.
